Quinty’s Crew has been an approved apprenticeship sponsor since October 2009. Higher secondary vocational students can do their practical training at Quinty’s Crew, where we will help them build their career. The basic lighting course, and the practical training that goes with it, are also included.
This Basic Lighting Course has been offered by Quinty’s Crew since January 2009 and was developed in association with the crew chiefs of, amongst others, the Toppers and André Rieu. During the ten week course, our students are trained as basic lighting technicians. We have held seven courses so far and are in the middle of the eighth course with 22 students.
Quinty’s Crew offers the Basic Lighting Course in association with the municipalities and the Dutch public employment service UWV. This way, we are able to offer people who are on unemployment benefit or social security appropriate training to help them to get back to work on a full-time basis.
Quinty’s Crew has a purpose-built class room where both theoretical and practical lessons can be offered. Our students attend classes two evenings per week from 8 till 11 p.m. with experienced teachers to pass on their knowledge. Tests are held periodically to assess the students’ level of knowledge.
PRACTICAL TRAINING
Within this ten week period, the students will do at least 20 days of practical training. This way, they will gain on-the-job experience, and are able to combine theory and practice.
EXAMINATION
A test is held every week. The grades awarded for these tests count towards the student’s final grade. A final exam will be held at the end of the course. This exam includes a theory test, an individual practical exam (reading a drawing and constructing lighting) and a group practical exam (reading a drawing and constructing lighting as a team). The student will receive a Basic Lighting Certificate at the end of this ten week period.
